ongratulations! Volvo P1800 turns 50
P1800 is planned in Sweden and designed in Italy. It was first presented at the Motor Show in Brussels, and was built in Britain. It was in 1961 that came into production and reach showrooms after four years of careful planning and development, which is in production for twelve years.

Frua prototypes were built in Turin, 1957-1958 Amazon substrate and these cars were used for different purposes, in cases as templates for producing print, sampling, exhibitions, advertising and printing photos, shooting and much more. All three survived, and on the road.

Since the spring of 1963 - the 6000 Jensen-built cars - production started in 1800, Volvo Lundby factory, but it was not until 1969 that the body pressing transferred from pressed steel in Scotland in the trade press Olofström Volvo. There is also a radical change of name coincided with the P1800. First it was badged P1800, and then in 1963 was known only as S 1800, S for Sweden.

In 1971, reveals a new body variant, EC 1800: e sport hatchback with an extended roofline and rear with a large station wagon rear glass. GT cars and real estate combined. EC is designed in Gothenburg and attracted much attention, but also divided opinion into two camps. It has even achieved cult status with its sister sedan, and many of them have survived until today. Volvo's 1800 models are very popular with fans - there are several clubs should model - and for many years, they were relatively cheap to buy, but in recent years, prices began to rise to the classic car market.
