Do you need air conditioning actually affect the performance and fuel economy?

How can you Top Gear test track lap faster the air con in affordable car Clarkson OK, you can save percentage, but in the real world would be a tactic to a significant impact on fuel consumption should be -?. That is what we are most interested in?

Your air will be your best friend if you run at high temperatures in direct sunlight. OK, not a scenario we are in the UK very often, but I recently rented a car on holiday in Rhodes. My favorite vehicle is the Ford Focus, but not a function of climate. With the drive in Greece and Crete in August, before I happily settled alternatives Fiat Panda with air conditioning (surprisingly nice car on the road).

Most people still under the impression that the long-term car air conditioner will eat more fuel, but it can not be entirely correct. With the advent of modern, efficient lean burn engine, air conditioner seemed to make little difference in the amount of gasoline consumed. OK, no aircon does not draw power from the engine, fuel. Depending on the type of equipment or vehicles, fuel consumption can be reduced to 20%, in some cases. But driving the climate, is probably as effective as a popular alternative fuel for ventilation and cooling control with the windows down.

Driving with windows dragging, which means that the engine has to work on the car's current speed and thus burns like gasoline and air conditioning running. It is obvious that if you are driving in city traffic is probably not very fast, so pull the car was minimal. But at least the air conditioning can help filter out pollutants and particulates that otherwise would receive streaming in. Frankly, I can tell you that there is no noticeable difference in fuel consumption, especially when driving on the highway, etc. between the air con "or "Windows down" approach.
